I learned something really interesting at the art fairs this summer. People don't like the basic black frames I put the 5x7 original paintings in. The originals I sold this summer were all sold frameless. All of them. Which made me wonder if it might be best to sell the 5x7s, matted to 8x10" without frames.
It seems like a good idea. All the original work is matted to a standard size of either 8x10 or 11x14. So anyone who buys an original piece can easily purchase a lovely frame that matches their personal style and decor. Of course, if someone preferred to have something professionally framed, they could do that as well. Additionally, shipping cost and risk is reduced because I'm not trying to ship glass. And I can stop worrying that someone receives a framed piece with broken glass due to rough shipping.
So instead of framed artwork, when you purchase an original piece in the 5x7" or 8x10" sizes, they will be shipped in plastic sleeve with a mat and backer board. I'm going to keep the little 4x6" pieces framed this year because I simply adore the little frames and they add a little oomph to the pieces and pretty unlikely to break during shipping due to their small size.
It will take me a week or two to update the pieces on the site so please do be patient while I get them re-photographed and repackaged.
